Did you know that butternut squash is actually a fruit?! Yup, thanks to those lovely little seeds in the middle, this commonly called vegetable is actually a fruit.

Sweet, moist and nutty tasting, the flavor of butternut squash is a bit like sweet potatoes—or, some say, butterscotch. 

It is flavorful and much sweeter in comparison to other squashes. The delicate taste of butternut squash goes excellent with spices and aromatic herbs like oregano and rosemary. You can roast and bake it but it's also perfect for purees and soups.
